VERTICAL MAPPING RESOURCES PROVIDES MAPPING SERVICES OF VICTOR VALLEY WASTEWATER RECLAMATION AUTHORITY
Services supplied will provide contractors and engineers with an in depth view of the plants current conditions
San Diego, Calif., November 22nd, 2009 - Vertical Mapping Resources, Inc., an aerial mapping and geospatial land information company with offices in California, as well as Arizona, was recently contracted to provide mapping services for the Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation authority of California.
 Victor Valley Water Reclamation Authority(VVWRA) was created in 1981 by the Mojave Water Agency in an effort to meet the requirements of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act. The intent of The Federal Water Pollution Control Act, commonly referred to as the Clean Water Act (CWA), is to restore and maintain, the chemical, physical, and biological qualities of the nation's waters by stopping and preventing all pollution sources, providing assistance to publicly owned treatment works, and maintaining the beauty of wetlands. At its inception, the VVWRA complete with supporting pipelines and infrastructures provided the treatment of up to 4.5 million gallons of water on a daily basis. Since its opening, VVWRA has seen many expansions and improvements and is now a combined power authority and public agency of the state of California.
Presently the plant treats more than 12 million gallons of wastewater a day. This water is then provided for the communities of Hesperia, Victorville, Apple Valley, Oro Grande, and Spring Valley Lake. The plant has current capabilities of treating large amounts of the water flow to different levels. For example, portions of the water source are treated to a tertiary level and the majority of the remaining supply to a secondary level for filtering. After this process, a greater part of the stream is released into the Mojave River Basin and the remaining share is set aside to be used for the irrigation and landscaping of the plant itself, as well as the close by Westwinds Golf Course.
For this project, Vertical Mapping Resources, Inc, (VMR) provided topographic mapping at 1”=40’ scale with 1-foot contours. VMR also provided seamless .25’ pixel resolution orthophotography from the 53 exposures that encompassed the project site.
Current predictions estimate that, in merely 20 years, a deficit of water will occur and the need for more wastewater recycling facilities will present itself. The benefits of recycled water programs include, helping the environment, saving drinking water supplies, reusing a valuable resource, and decreasing the possibility of drought. With the services provided by VMR, expansions and improvements to VVWRA can be made permitting the recovery and conservation of even more of this essential resource.
