VERTICAL MAPPING RESOURCES TO MAP NEW CAJALCO ROAD ALIGNMENT

Scottsdale, Arizona, March 23rd, 2004 – Scottsdale, Arizona-based Vertical Mapping Resources (VMR) is providing black-and-white digital orthophotography, digital terrain models, .5 and 2 meter contours, and design scale planimetrics covering Cajalco Road between Interstates 15 and 215 near Perris, CA. The project is in association with CALTRANS and other private entities.

According to Joseph Bartorelli, VMR’s president, the mapping is being prepared at metric scales of 1:500 and 1:1000 and is designed to ASPRS Class 1 accuracies. The mapping and digital orthophotography will encompass the proposed new Cajalco road alignment to support efforts to widen the existing corridor. A key technology being utilized for this extensive project effort involves using both Airborne GPS and inertial measurement unit technologies (IMU) to accurately record survey-grade phase centers for each exposure during flight. This is a highly accurate, cost saving technique which significantly reduces the amount of ground control panels required and is new on the photogrammetric scene.

Vertical Mapping Resources, Inc. is a full-service geospatial information firm providing traditional and digital photogrammetric mapping, as well as state-of-the-art geotechnologies, imaging and land information consulting services. We specialize in A/E design scale topographic and planimetric mapping, surface modeling, digital orthophotography, city and county GIS basemapping and updating services. VMR integrates cutting-edge hardware and software systems through each phase of the photogrammetric process to achieve an efficient, seamless production workflow.
