VERTICAL MAPPING RESOURCES PROVIDES AERIAL MAPPING OF THE BENICIA REFINERY
Topographic mapping will aid architects and engineers in the improvements of the refinery
Sacramento, Calif., May 10th, 2009 - Vertical Mapping Resources, Inc., a leading aerial mapping and geospatial land information company was recently contracted to complete topographic mapping at a 1”=20’ scale with 1-foot contours of California’s Benicia Refinery. The detailed mapping services provided by VMR will assist with the improvements of the refinery.
 Benicia Refinery is located on 800 acres of land approximately 25 miles northeast of San Francisco’s Bay on the Carquinez Strait. It was built in the year 1969 on the site of the old federal Benicia Arsenal. Since 1977 when it received the first shipment of crude oil by ship through the Alaskan Pipeline, Benicia has become one of the most intricate and successful refineries in the country. Today, the refinery employs over 500 employees and produces up to 170,000 barrels of gasoline per day, 10% of the states clean burning fuel. Other products of the refinery, include; propane, butane, ultra-low sulfur diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil, residual oil, and asphalt.
