VERTICAL MAPPING RESOURCES PROVIDES MAPPING SERVICES FOR THE EASTSIDE TRANSIT CORRIDOR
Services provided will offer framework for the second phase of the new light rail system.

July 1st, 2011, San Diego, Calif. - Vertical Mapping Resources, Inc., a leading photogrammetric and geospatial land information firm with offices in both California and Arizona, was recently contracted to provide digital mapping and orthophotography services for the proposed Eastside Transit Corridor, Phase 2.

The Metro Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2 is a transit study looking to connect with and extend the recently opened Gold Line Eastside Extenstion light rail line which runs from Union Station to Pomona and Atlantic boulevards in East Los Angeles to communities farther east.  Communities in the study area include Bell, Commerce, Downey, El Monte, Industry, Los Angeles, Montebello, Monterey Park, Pico Rivera, Rosemead, Santa Fe Springs, South El Monte, Whittier and the unincorporated portions of Los Angeles County.

VMR was contracted to provide 1”=40’ topographic mapping, with 1’ contours, and color digital orthophotography for all four alignments, plus right-of-way.  The project included acquisition of color aerial photography for the stereoscopic feature collection and surface modeling.  VMR also produced a color orthophoto mosaic of the site with a .25’ pixel resolution.  CAD deliverables were provided in Metro Standards and Microstation format.

Mapping services were completed for the two main light rail alternatives, State Route 60 and Washington Boulevard.  In addition, mapping was also completed on the No Build Alternative and the Transportation Systems Management (TSM) Alternative.
