VERTICAL MAPPING RESOURCES MAPS SITE FOR NEW GROUNDWATER TREATMENT PLANT
IN GLENDALE, ARIZ.
Topographic Mapping Helps Engineers Identify Suitable Locations for Water Pipeline Corridors at
the Oasis Water Campus
Scottsdale, Arizona, Oct. 15, 2008 – Vertical Mapping Resources Inc., a leading Scottsdale, Ariz.-based integrated aerial mapping and geospatial land information company, recently completed a detailed mapping project in conjunction with the development and construction of a new groundwater treatment plant in Glendale, Ariz.
The City of Glendale is moving forward with the construction of a groundwater treatment plant on the City’s Oasis Water Campus, located on the 71st Avenue Alignment at Northern Avenue, to provide operational flexibility and meet the growing water supply demands of Glendale. A surface water treatment plant was recently completed at the Oasis Water Campus, which will increase the water supply by up to 10 million gallons per day. The groundwater treatment plant is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2010 and will treat water from City wells to meet regulatory standards and reduce the nitrate levels through an ion-exchange process.
Vertical Mapping Resources provided the prime contractor and its team of engineers, architects, surveyors and technicians with black and white orthophotography and a topographic map of the property that included a 1”=40’ scale with 1’ contours. This process allowed the engineering team to digitally view the existing site and determine the most suitable locations for new water pipeline corridors.
“Our team enjoyed working with CH2M HILL and Aztec Engineering on this important project for the City of Glendale,” said Justin Magill, project manager for Vertical Mapping Resources. “We recognize the significance of helping the City provide safe, reliable drinking water to its residents and businesses.”
