Remote Sensing

By definition, practical terrestrial Remote Sensing involves the detecting and measuring of electromagnetic energy emanating from distant objects made of various materials, so that the user can identify and categorize these objects by class or type, substance, and spatial distribution. Generally, Remote Sensing has a specific criterion by which its products point to this specific use of the term: images much like photos are a main output of the sensed surfaces of the objects of interest. However, the data often can also be shown as "maps" and to a lesser extent "graphs".

VMR and its associates utilize advanced industry-standard technologies to perform data collection and provide precise classification and other remote sensing services. Our staff and applied services offer high-resolution spectral data for environmental decisions demanding accuracy and quality.

In addition to standard remote sensing applications, VMR is also pioneering the use of LiDAR, a state-of-the-art, innovative laser-based technology. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is a scanning and ranging laser system that produces highly accurate digital elevation models (DEMS) which are ideal for small-scale mapping and orthophoto applications.
